Sanford Landa, LCSW
About
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York and Florida with many years of experience providing individual, marriage, family, and emotion-focused couples therapy (EFT) to people of all ages and from various different backgrounds.
I typically work with those experiencing depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, relationship issues, addiction/substance use reduction, OCD, ADHD, and life transitions, and I am deeply committed to supporting neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ individuals. I also specialize in working with clients experiencing complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) or complex trauma, utilizing attachment-based and narrative therapy.
Within this framework, I work with clients to better explore how early childhood experiences become deeply embedded in our body memory and impact us throughout our adult life cycle. My aim is to help clients process these experiences and move forward to live a fulfilling life while recognizing and processing the repeated trauma they have experienced. With my clients, I aim to be caring, compassionate, and understanding, valuing the time I spend with them in their experience. Through my solution-focused approach, I believe that the more time you focus on solutions, the more solutions will come to the surface and become apparent in your life.
I also utilize resource-based therapy, as I believe that everyone has inherent strengths and resources that we can rediscover and put into action together. My practice is informed by my training in CBT, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), which I integrate to help clients identify and heal different internal parts of themselves. I incorporate neuroplasticity into my work, using research in modern brain science which states that we can change our brain and clear our emotional pathways to develop resources for growth. I am passionate about mindfulness and allow clients to be with their problems without becoming the problem. I became a therapist because I wanted to help people and now, after doing this for so many years, I still get excitement from watching people grow magically before my eyes.
