Sophia Imar, LMSW
About
I work with individuals drawing on psychodynamic, CBT, and IFS modalities to address a wide range of interpersonal, situational, and life stressors. More than any modality or strategy, I focus on fostering close, supportive relationships with my clients.
I approach therapy first and foremost as a relationship. My clients matter greatly to me, and our work together is based on this two-way relationship. I pull in strategies from a number of different theories and modalities, and I continue learning and expanding my toolbox. More importantly, I show up every day with genuine investment in and empathy towards my clients.
My top priority in therapy is my relationships with my clients. I strive to understand and empower my clients in each session. I often use metaphors in therapy to bring lofty emotional topics down into real-world terms. I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgemental setting to process, heal and feel a sense of hope and possibility, through our therapeutic alliance.
