Gabriel Lobo-Berg, MHC-Intern
About
I am Gabriel Lobo-Berg, a Mental Health Counseling intern. I practice individual and group therapy, and I am keenly interested in working with people of all racial, ethnic, and national backgrounds as well as LGBTQ+ population.
When a client is in a therapy session with me, they are in a space of absolute acceptance, and I believe strongly in unconditional positive regard, an important aspect of the humanistic approach to therapy. I also include Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) techniques and Motivational Interviewing (MI) into my approach as well. I also have an endless fascination for existential psychology and philosophy, so if you are the sort of person who finds themselves questioning the meaning of life and things of that nature, I am someone who would be excited to explore those issues with you and provide support in guidance in the pursuit of self-expression and identity exploration.
In our therapeutic space, you can feel comfortable bringing your full self to our time together without having to shave your various edges down to conform or to minimize all of you.
I show up curious and open to what you feel is most important to work on, and you feel confident that I will not presume to know what you need to work on or what you are thinking or feeling, but I will always strive to understand what you share with me and will always communicate to make sure we are on the same page. I want to make sure those that work with me feel mentally liberated from the cognitive traps that caged them before.
I offer virtual and in person sessions and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about my approach and what to expect from our sessions during our intro call.
